I forget
I keep forgetting to post things here. Twitter is where I'm a bit more active -- https://twitter.com/SterlingKato ^^;
Mitsy passed away.
Mitsy passed away at 6pm today. It was a breach egg again, but it was stuck in such a way there was no getting it out and it was too late. She was in pain. We let her go and surgically removed the eggs. We're hoping to keep one of her babies. My heart is broken. (For those wondering, yes, she was put to sleep. She was in pain.) Needless to say, the last 2 days have been hectic and spent working with her and the vet. My heart hurts and it will be a day to recover. However, work will resume tomorrow if possible. Thank you, - Kato
EMERGENCY!: Egg-bound chameleon!
There's a bit of an emergency -- Mitsy (my female veiled chameleon) has somehow become egg-bound (meaning, she's not able to lay her eggs ). We're sure it's a stuck egg in her as we can see her straining and she’s suddenly shown signs of pain and egg-binding. Needless to say we’re rushing her into the vet once the vehicle returns. That said, since this was a sudden cost and I’ve been unable to rebuild the vet savings due to having to take in one of our cats for another issue (she’s okay, but needed an update on meds). The total cost would be $250 give or take. I can cover half with what I have in savings so far, but the rest is left floating. I’m hoping it will be a simple fix (such as removing the blockage or possibly a shot of oxytocin to get the contractions strong enough to push the blockage out) but I’m not sure. I don’t want to ask for donations but this is a big emergency. Mitsy was doing just fine; digging and doing all she’s meant to to lay her eggs, but this morning

Once it's online it's out there.
I think it's a shame to add watermarks but it is most definitely a necessity, seeing as once you've put something on the internet you cannot guarantee that you can remove it from everywhere. Someone, somewhere, will have saved it or re-uploaded it or whatever. Therefore, if it's your work and anyone can access it via DeviantArt and other websites (maybe albeit at a lower resolution), watermarking it is a protection measure you can add. There's nothing wrong with that - I don't see why people would be against it. Especially if it's smallish but still enough to show its origin and artist.
As you said, it's your work. You created it; it belongs solely to you.
If you sell prints for people surely you could have those with the semi-transparent watermark, as they can never be scanned in to a good enough resolution to use for anything?
