** 2011 --…

** 2012 --…

Finally found some decent references for running, so I thought to give it another shot. Still jittery but... I hope it's an improvement from my last two.
I don't know if I'll finish this... I may and I may not... We'll see. I've no patience for animation but sometimes it's fun to do it just to get a nice handle on anatomy and movement.
I don't like the tail or how scribbly parts are but oh well... I had some HUGE issues with the back feet and legs even with reference. For some reason they didn't want to be 'right' so sorry if they look odd. I'm too tired to care enough to fix/clean them up right now, haha!

It is a looped animation though, about 13 frames I believe. I may add a few more to make it smoother if I ever get a chance to finish it, and I think I may actually line, colour, and shade it as well. Again, we'll see.
For now toward the end/beginning the body just kind of 'slides' back to the other side of the frame... Oh dear :I
Must fix that, it's bothering me now.

Critiques are alright IF they'll actually help. Please do not just tell me what's wrong, tell me how to fix it as well.

UPDATE: Thank you thank you thank you for the critiques! O____O They are really helping me see areas I need to work and adjust such as the tail and the spinal area/rump. This is pretty rough and I think for the next update I'll include a three piece .gif of the matchstick figure, this sketching phase, and then the detailed sketch.
Also, I am still looking up the reference(s) I used for this. Bear with me. I was at work on a pretty hard job site today and it was raining and cold, so I'm tired and I really don't feel like sifting through images right now.
It's probably pretty easy to find anyway.
Either way, I'll look it up a bit later. No worries, I have no shame in admitting I referenced the heck out of this. I WANT to get a better handle on movement! :I
Hopefully I will... eventually....
So again, thank you for the crits and pointers :3 I really appreciate them! :D

EDIT: Putting in scraps for now.

Are you going to leave it like this or do you already know if you are going to finish this? :D because it is pretty nice

I have to add some frames and adjust the settings a bit but for now it'll stay as is ^^; I've not going the time or patience for animation but doing it helps rest the senses and get a feel for movement :)
You're welcome to critique it as best you can if you'd like, any help is welcome :) Thank you!

Might it have been this?… - I know it's an old tutorial, and there are massive problems with the motion's fluidity… if you did use it you surely improved on it massively! /:]

thanks! but it's not as good as Ur animation! Might the photos have been by Edward Muybridge ? he used to do a lot of sequential shoots like that? :)

I looked at the previous years' gif, and it's fantastic how much you've improved. I'm not that great at animation, so I won't critique, but I do love the result! Good work, please keep posting your lovely art :la:
